Deep Sea Fishing Myrtle Beach

Things You Need to Know Before Going Deep Sea Fishing

Deep Sea Fishing Myrtle BeachMyrtle Seashore is chock full of various excursions for deep sea fishing – rent a charter and get out there amongst the sea bass, marlin, mackerel and a multitude of other species that are discovered in the crystal blue waters off South Carolina. You can also select to fish off the pier, on the shoreline or locate your way close to the many inlets, creeks, and lakes in Horry County.

Deep sea fishing Myrtle Beach is quite popular. It is here that you can catch the most exotic fish species and live to tell about tell. What makes the activity more interesting, those other types of fishing is essentially the types or species you get to catch. The fish, which you catch, live under at, or below, the photic zone. In this photic zone, the more interesting species are found. Interesting, as this may seem, there is something, which you need to think about before signing up for one fishing charter. The thing is that due to the enormous levels of commercial fishing all over the world, even these exotic kinds of fish are becoming extinct. Many deep-sea fishers, if they do come across such species, decide to let them go. Species such as the spiny eel is one of the most endangered ones.

There are many options for doing deep-sea fishing. Considering you have got yourself a worthy charter and a commendable vessel, you have two options deep-sea fishing. One-way is through bottom fishing. In this process, a large net is dropped deep under the waters, till it touches the reef. The other process is that of trolling, which is the most popular alternative. In this particular process, the net trails behind the boat.

There are some tips on how to find good Deep-sea fishing in Myrtle Beach.

  • The very first thing which you must decide is for how long will the excursion be?   What are the types of fish you are planning to catch?  Are you experienced enough to catch the species you are looking forward to?
  • Secondly, you might be looking to catch a particular species of fish. Make sure that there are charters, which offer such a specialized service,

One of the most important tip is, and this is not something which you will find anywhere else, is that you should talk to the captain of the boat you are hiring. You will get far more information from the captain and crew of the boat. Most charters can take as many as six fishermen at a time and function half day or day lengthy excursions. There are also head boats and party boats that set sail every day from the dock. What ever your sport, a Myrtle Beach seaside vacation will find you with extremely little time on your hands for thinking about something but fun!

We are sailing daily and would love to have you onboard.

Deep Sea Fishing Myrtle Beach

Deep Sea Fishing for Valentines?

Deep Sea Fishing Myrtle BeachDeep sea fishing is a challenging game of sport. It is where amateurs and professionals alike are reaching deep into the ocean to get the most exquisite prey and compete for the best catch. Fish like lantern fish, cookie cutter shark, angler fish and flashlight fish, are the adrenaline rush for those who manage to get their rods tackled by one of these great species. When you go deep sea fishing, you should keep in mind the possibilities are endless. Deep sea fishing, in its essence, is fishing for prey in the deeper part of the ocean. The difference of deep sea fishing from the common fishing is that deep sea fishing will require more specific equipment, for more lures, lines, and rods that are specified for the use of deep sea fishing. Voyager Deep Sea Fishing provides all the necessary equipment to make your trip enjoyable and memorable.

There is nothing quite like being out in the middle of the deep waters where the fish species can grow to some enormous sizes. It’s certainly not something that you’ll soon forget, and you’ll most likely be ready to start planning your next adventure as soon as possible.

Since it’s something that you’ll always remember, why not make these memories as good as possible? There are many species of fish found out in the depths of the ocean regardless of where you go fishing. Since these species grow larger than any, you’ll find near the shore, and since so many things can happen unexpectedly when out in the ocean, you’ll never have an average or boring fishing trip. There’s just too much to see and too many opportunities for anything to be ordinary.

Do you have passion for deep sea diving? Why don’t you do something unusual for Valentines and take your sweetheart deep sea fishing? We have had a warm winter in Myrtle Beach, and the fishing is great.

You can have fun and exciting deep sea fishing trips if you know how to prepare for the adventure. Below are a few tips to help you get prepared so you can get the most out of all your deep sea fishing at Myrtle Beach:

Make sure that the vessel you plan to use is suited for the rough waters found in the deeper parts of the ocean. Things can get real rough very quickly, and your boat needs to be in great shape and suited for this type of environment.  At Voyager our boats are gone over every year to ensure they are in top working order.

You will need special equipment when you go deep sea fishing. Regular rods, reel, and tackle will not hold up to this type of fishing. You must have heavy duty equipment designed to handle the large species found in the ocean. All necessary equipment is provided on all our charters. Whether you are a novice or an experienced fisherman, you will find what you need.

If you don’t have any experience with deep sea fishing, then it’s vital that you go out with someone who does. It can be very dangerous dealing with the equipment required for deep sea fishing and being out in the ocean when you don’t have any experience.  Or crew is experienced with handling every level of fisherman. You can feel safe when traveling with Voyager Deep Sea Fishing vessels.

Decide which species you would like to seek out and have the right bait to match the species and the size you estimate to be available. This can help your fishing trip to be more successful.

Take an extra set of clothing, sun-block, hat, sunglasses and a light raincoat. You never know what to expect when you get out on the ocean.  This winter as been mild and now is a great time to do something unusual for Valentines and take your sweetheart deep sea fishing.

Call today to make your reservations.

4 Tips For A Myrtle Beach Dolphin Cruise

myrtle beach fishing chartersYou have been looking forward to this day. You decided to embark on a dolphin cruise adventure, and you’re trying to find some ideas where to begin. Doing a little research before you plunge into the adventure may bring some beneficial results. In this guide, you are going to learn important suggestions each person or family on a dolphin cruise Myrtle Beach should know. But before proceeding, let’s learn the main differences between a dolphin and a porpoise.

People normally use the terms porpoises, whales and dolphins in describing marine mammals that belong to the order Cetacea, and use them often interchangeably.

However, there are some differences among them.

Dolphins are far more prevalent when compared to porpoises. Majority of scientists are in agreement there are 32 dolphin species-and 5 closely related river dolphin species-while there are only 6 porpoise species.

The harbor porpoise, for example, has small pointed flippers, and no beak. Its dorsal fin is not only small but also has a triangle shape. The difference basically comes down to their fins, their figures, and their faces. Dolphins have prominent and “elongated “beaks” plus cone-shaped teeth. The curved or hooked dorsal fin of the dolphin differs also from the triangular dorsal fin of the porpoise. Basically, dolphins have leaner bodies while porpoise bodies are portly.

To communicate with each other underwater, dolphins make whistling sounds via their blowholes, while scientists are quite certain porpoises don’t do this. Simply speaking, dolphins are more talkative than porpoises.

The wild winter weather has made it a great time to take advantage of a dolphin cruise. Below are a few tips to help you prepare for your trip.

4 Tips For Myrtle Beach Dolphin Cruise

  1. Choose the right time for you

When you are a morning person, perhaps a 10 am dolphin cruise at Myrtle Beach is going to be appropriate for you. You can spend the rest of the day for other thrilling activities in Myrtle Beach, like a deep sea fishing trip. You can also decide to go for an afternoon dolphin cruise.

  1. Bring Along Right Equipment

You may also need to take your video camera to share those exciting memories at home with your friends and loved ones or on Facebook. You may record all this on your mobile phone. However, it might not be as accurate as a video recorder or a camera.

  1. Listen to Your Guide

Remember that any trip which involves wildlife, your guide is a professional who has in his mind your best interest. They want you to have an exciting dolphin cruise in Myrtle Beach, and it is their job also to safely see you through. Dolphin watch Myrtle Beach

Do Dolphins Hibernate or Migrate

Dolphin watch Myrtle BeachIt is winter here in Myrtle Beach and we spend the time getting our ocean going ready for spring. We are still going on deep sea fishing ventures, but you will have to wait until spring for the next Dolphin Watch Cruise.

You may be wondering, however, where do dolphins go in the winter?

Dolphins need to breathe just like humans, so every 30 minutes or so they need to surface and breathe. For this reason, dolphins do not hibernate under water. Also, they do not migrate as a group or family unit with a pattern that anyone can define. This does

Consider This About Dolphins

As we mentioned, they do not hibernate given they do not have an  involuntary breathing respiratory systems like other animals as well as human beings. Breathing is an intentional act they need to think about.  One interesting fact is that only half of a dolphin’s brain actually sleeps at any given time.  How do we know? Electroencephalograms conducted by scientists. For approximately eight hours a day they sleep and off (kind of like humans at work.)

Sleep Patterns of Dolphins

Dolphins need to rise to the surface to breathe through what is called a blowhole about every 30 minutes when they are in deep water. This will happen more frequently if they are in more shallow water. Sometime a dolphin will rest close to the surface of the way with their blowhole exposed or they will swim very slowly in pairs in a semi-conscious state. When this is happening, they keep one eye open and that eye is not correspond with which half of the brain is sleeping. Usually dolphins will swim in sets when sleeping and keep one eye open and focused on the other dolphins.

Migration

There is no definitive migration pattern for dolphins and they do not move to another location in large groups like other mammals. There is some evidence that some do move in the winter season, however, not a great distance like geese or other types of birds. In areas, other than Myrtle Beach, where the weather is more extreme such as the North Atlantic coast, some dolphins will migrate south to warmer waters.

A study was done in the United Kingdom where dolphins migrated to southern Cornwall and then moving north as the weather became warmer. However, scientists could did not observe a specific pattern to their migration.

As spring starts getting closer we start thinking of warm summer days and there is no better way to spend family time than taking a long dolphin watch cruise with the Voyager crew. Don’t let another summer go by without treating your family to this great adventure.

Why not go ahead and buy a gift certificate and add this to your summer schedule now.

Google Review

What an awesome experience. Our family did the Dolphin Cruise this morning and we all had a fantastic time. The seas were a little rough but come on its the ocean. We were lucky enough to actually get to see dolphins which was a huge bonus as no one would ever be able to guarantee that. We even got to see a small 4 ft shark swimming around BONUS. The crew and captain were nothing but friendly and knowledgeable about the area the waterway in which we traveled and I would highly recommend this as a adventure for everyone and what a wonderful picture you have the option of purchasing at the end. Thanks again for a wonderful experience. Team Fowler, Windsor, ON, Canada

And this just a week ago – yes the dolphins are here in winter!

Deep Sea Fishing Myrtle Beach

Advantages of Deep Sea Fishing In The Winter

Deep Sea Fishing Myrtle BeachIt is December in Myrtle Beach and the cold weather has set-in. But if you have lived her long, you know how quickly that can change. Without notice we can have an unseasonably warm day that makes you dream of getting out the fishing poles.

Yes you can beat the winter blahs and enjoy a day of fishing with fewer crowds and a great time with Captain Larry of Voyager Deep Sea Fishing fame. You can schedule a full or half-day private fishing outing for your employees and their families or just a few of your closest buddies.

Fishing is frequently considered a summer season activity, however here in Myrtle Beach you’ll find outstanding catches year-round because, even though you may not think so, South Carolina does have seasons and fish populations differ depending on the time of year!

Fall and winter season are great times to be out on the water doing some deep sea fishing with Voyager Deep Sea Fishing Charters. Here are 7 of our favorite needs to fish in the fall and winter months.

7 Benefits To Deep Sea Fishing In Fall And Winter

It’s A Little Cooler. If the Myrtle Beach heat is a little too much for you in the summer, you’ll relish the cooler temperatures that fall and winter bring. Humidity is lower too, making for an enjoyable day out on the water.

The Sun Is Less Extreme. The sun sits lower in the sky throughout these months, making it less extreme and the day overall more satisfying. However, you can still feel the warmth of a sunny day and enjoy the day on the ocean.

There’s Still Plenty Of Fishing. The fish don’t leave once summertime ends; you’ll still find a great range of fish and get lots of bites. You can expect to find  Sea Bass, King Mackerel & Mahi Dolphin, Triggerfish, Grouper, Porgies, Amberjacks, Pink Snappers, Rudderfish, Big Cobia. You typically will not find these species closer to coast, as they require open and deeper waters to feed.

It’s Fun For The Family. Fishing is always an enjoyable family time and with less crowds in the fall and winter months, it’s simpler to arrange a full or half day charter with us.

Grouper Runs. Grouper, grouper, grouper! The cooler months are the very best time of year to fish for various types of grouper because they like the cooler water temperature levels. You can capture black grouper, red grouper, goliath grouper, gag grouper, and broom tail.

Whether you enjoy wahoo for their taste, for the excitement you get when one snatches a bite on your line, or simply seeing them streak through the water, the cold weather are the best time to attempt to catch one in Myrtle Beach.

Sharks have the tendency to congregate in shallower water during the cooler months, making them simpler to find (though not always to capture!). Blacktip and spinner sharks in particular are known to move through Myrtle Beach ocean waters during the winter months.

Here are more from Trip Advisor

My family and I went on Dolphin Cruise on the evening of July 20. We had a great cruise. Lots of scenery and manage to see several Dolphins. The crew was very helpful and interacted with passengers. We all had a great time. Well worth the money.

Capt. Brian, Ken, and Brian was an awesome crew. Capt. Brian was very knowledgeable and informative on the trip about the history of the water ways. Brian and Ken were awesome interacting with everyone and showing them some of the fish they caught in the net before they released them. Definitely will go back.

If the kids won’t sleep the night before Christmas, just think how sleepless they will be the night before a dolphin cruise!

When you use your gift certificate to book a Myrtle Beach dolphin cruise, you will venture through the intercoastal waterway and out into the Atlantic Ocean.  Look for the Shrimp Boat Fleets as they work their nets – you will find the dolphins looking for dinner. Other marine life like sharks feed behind the shrimp boats. As we sail the crew will bring up sea life for the kids and adults to examine. Expect to see crabs, shrimp, sea urchins, sand dollars and even baby sharks.

Our Myrtle Beach dolphin cruises last for 2-1/2 hours of exciting fun for the whole family. All of our vessels are US Coast Guard licensed and certified. We have the latest electronics and safety equipment onboard. Our crew is knowledgeable and courteous and we have a full galley on board with ice cold beverages and snacks.

Your family will be surprised when they get this unusable gift for Christmas. Add a charm or stuffed dolphin for the kids to the gift certificate and they will have something to look forward to all winter.

Deep Sea Fishing Myrtle Beach

Deep Sea Fishing For A Christmas Gift?

Deep Sea Fishing Myrtle BeachChristmas is right around the corner and you may already be in a panic on what to give to the special person in your life that “has everything.” Think about a day deep sea fishing if you want a special day they will never forget.

The weather in Myrtle Beach has still been warm and this time of year is great for a fishing trip. With fewer tourists in the area you will get lots of personal attention.

What is so special about deep sea fishing?

That is a great question! There is a whole different variety of fish in the deep sea versus fishing in the bay, waterway or on a lake which are a shallow environment as compared to the deep ocean. We are talking big game fish – Grouper, Grunts, Triggerfish, Porgies, Large Sea Bass, Amberjacks, Pink Snappers, Rudderfish, Big Cobia, King Mackerel & Mahi Dolphin even a shark or two are being caught on drift lines. These species of ocean fish require deeper waters to feed and breed and surfers and vacationing swimmers are certainly glad for that – especially the sharks.

Tips for deep sea fishing

Embrace Nature. Your loved one that would appreciate a deep sea fishing trip as a gift is probably someone that enjoys being on with nature. Sea gulls hovering in a specific area are a probable indicator that there are smaller fish in that location. Larger fish feed on these smaller species and this designates a great place to throw in a line. Your Voyager Deep Sea Fishing captain knows the waters off the Carolina coast and is aware of these indicators of a great fishing spot.

Avoid Sea Sickness – You may want to include some anti-nausea medication with you gift if you are not sure how your loved one will react to the swaying of the fishing boat.  The trip should be fun and exciting and sea sickness can be a deterrent to the fun of the day.

Book with the fishing experts – If you are new to deep sea fishing then travel with an expert.  Not only will they know where to find the fish, they will assist with using the right bait and reeling in the big one. Voyager Deep Sea Fishing has guides with lots of experience to make your trip both safe and enjoyable.

Be knowledgeable – include a note with your gift and include a link to the articles on this site. It is a good idea to be as knowledgeable as possible before embarking on your trip.

Voyager Deep Sea Fishing offers several alternatives for a trip based on your budget:

  • Join a scheduled trip in the morning or afternoon. You will be fishing with other locals and visitors to the Myrtle Beach area.
  • Charter a trip just for your group. This is a great way to enjoy a day with family and friends.

Your loved one will enjoy this great gift and thank you for a great adventure.

Delve Deeper to Enjoy Deep Sea Fishing in Myrtle Beach

deep sea fishing Myrtle BeachMyrtle Beach provides a fantastic location for anyone who wants to have fun. However, did you know that you can experience a whole new kind of fun when you actually lose yourself to deep sea fishing, packed with lots of adventures and experiences to conquer? Charter deep sea fishing in Myrtle Beach provides you with this unique opportunity. Once you are done with high-end cuisines that local restaurants in Myrtle have to offer, maybe it’s time to hunt for your own food this fall. Here are reasons you should plan for deep sea fishing in Myrtle:

Amazing Deep Sea Charters

When you are venturing deep at sea for fun, comfort and safety should be your key priorities. Here you are sure to find fishing boats with all the amenities you would expect in a luxury boat. However, it is always important to do some little background research on the best deep sea charter companies to ensure you enjoy the best services.

Enjoy Deep Sea Serenity with Friends

Although fishing near the pier is fun, it can be really be a turn off if you cannot get ample space as a result of overcrowding. Deep sea fishing provides the space and the serenity to angle freely as much as you like. Furthermore, it gives you a perfect opportunity to bond with friends who share your passion for deep sea fishing.

Adventure

The fun with any form of adventure is that you never know what sorts of surprises and new experiences are in store for you. If you are a professional angler, you probably know very well that fishing near the shore has its limitations. This is because some fish species like to play deep and you will rarely get any along the shorelines. Delving deeper gives you the opportunity to come to shore with rare and huge trophies to show off to friends.

Improve Your Fishing Skills

If you want to go a little overboard, you have to be ready to dance with the big boys. If you stay closer to the shore, you will never learn new fishing skills. For instance, angling along the shores is much easier because the waves are gentle and the wind calm. Fishing is a fun experience, but the fun can soon turn into a boring routine if you are not ready to take on new challenges.

Warm Climate

If you are the kind of person who is sensitive to weather extremes, then charter deep sea fishing in Myrtle Beach provides a favorable alternative. Apart from enjoying the comforts of the charter fishing boats, the warm weather provides a perfect condition for anyone to engage in fun fishing. During the fall, the weather in this amazing location gets better. You can delve deeper into the sea without worrying about violent storms or extreme weather conditions.

If you plan on going deep sea fishing this fall, then Myrtle Beach is the perfect location for you. For real fun, you should try out charter deep sea fishing boats which offer high-end services with all the amenities of comfort you would expect in a luxury boat.

We went out 10/21. Very choppy seas, but had a neat experience. My husband got sick even after dramamine, guess he needs super strength! Even still, he had a good time. Everyone was great. My son even caught a little black bass. We’ll be back! Thanks again for trip out on the ocean.

Dolphin Cruise Myrtle Beach

Ever thought about taking a dolphin cruise in Myrtle Beach? Here is what others have to say about our dolphin tour:

This was an absolute awesome dolphin cruise. The captain was very informative and the deck hands were beyond outstanding. My mother wanted to go and we were concerned about getting her up on boat because she is in a wheelchair. These guys got her up and were so nice. I highly recommend you take the trip

Michael Anderson
My family went on a dolphin cruise today and we loved it! I had been on a fishing trip with Voyager earlier this summer with some friends and it was great, so when we took our family vacation, my wife and kids wanted to go out on a boat while we were here.

The cruise was very relaxing and captain Brian Davis provided a nice narration of local history as we passed by little fishing towns and marinas, plus he also revealed some hidden gems along the way that we would have never discovered on our own! There were no dolphins today, but I can’t blame the captain for wild animals not showing right on cue.

The crew, Andrew and Tyler were attentive and helpful, although at one point they were busy dropping a net off the back and could not help passengers who wanted drinks. The net was all part of the cruise and people just have to wait. The crew pulled up some sea life and everyone got a chance to hold a small stingray. My 2 kids were really impressed. Andrew was great with my kids as he showed them the stingray. The captain continued in his best attempt to find dolphins but they didn’t show. We were out in the ocean for about 30-40 minutes, but it seemed longer.

One thing we liked about this boat, compared to other dolphin boats is how we could walk all around the boat during the trip, and it has an inside cabin with comfortable benches and tables to sit at. We didn’t have any trouble getting snacks or drinks.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable trip, despite not seeing dolphins, and worth the money. Captain Brian and his crew made it a trip to remember. We will definitely be back next year to do it again!

We went on the dolphin boat tour a week ago and loved it! My daughter is about to turn 5 and it was her first boat ride. The crew was AMAZING and even sang Happy Birthday to our daughter! We were able to see a dolphin, baby shark, squid and a puffer fish. The crew let our daughter touch and hold the squid and the fish. This will for sure be something we do every year when we go on vacation! Thank you for the great experience!!!

Went fishing with my 2 year old daughter and 66 year old aunt and we all enjoyed the adventure! I brought a portable dvd player for once we started fishing for my daughter. There’s a bathroom on the boat which was Great for my “wee one”. They had cold beverages on board for purchase, tables inside (out of the sun), and an upstairs which was nice to feel a breeze. We enjoyed it so much, we went on a dolphin tour the next day! My “wee one” didn’t start out so great on this trip and one of the crew members brought her a frozen popsicle to help out. Very nice and friendly crew!!! Thanks Captain Brian and Awesome Crew!!!

We had a party of 8 (two 8 year old kids, 2 teenage boys and 4 adults.) we signed up for Shark night fishing. Captain was very honest that with the hot weather the fishing was sketchy. It didn’t matter- although we would’ve loved to had caught sharks, we had a great time! The crew was extremely polite, friendly and helpful as was the captain. They really made the trip fun! Thank you! We had a great time!

The first fishing trip loads of sharks caught..second not so much..but everyone was catching fish and it was storming.. The crew was friendly and helpful.. Crew member Steve helped my kids tremendously.. And made them laugh and smile..couldn’t have asked or spent money on a better time… Thanks

My husband & I went out today on the Continental Shelf. Our crew members, Josh & Brian were great!

Between the two of us, we probably caught a total of 20 fish, although none were big enough to keep.

One of the other passengers caught a 3ft shark.  For the price, we were happy with the experience, and would likely go back again

Took the wife and kids out on a charter boat with Cpt. Justin and his deck hand Oscar at the begining of August. Man we had a blast. The Cpt. kept us on the fish and Oscar was taking care of business. We pulled in a ton of fish (not all keepers) but enough keepers to make it well worth the while and the money. The wife even pulled in a shark. Oscar got it in the boat after she reeled it in and handled it like a pro. The kids reeled some in and had a blast. Everyone was super friendly, helpful and made it a good experience. Would definitely charter with these guys in a heart beat!

What a fantastic trip. I have fished head boats up and down the Atlantic and the Gulf. The crew (Josh and Paul) were great. I took my whole family out for the first time and a great time was had by all. My girls, 7 and 9, were doted on by both guys and they took the time to show my son 14 how to fix a backlash. We didn’t catch a lot of fish, but that wasn’t due to a lack of effort by the captain and crew. I would HIGHLY recommend the half-day for any family looking for a first time experience.

Voyager Deep Sea Fishing Reviews – Trip Advisor

This trip is awesome. 2nd time I have been out on this fishing trip. Captain and Mates are topnotch. Captain puts you on fish every time. Caught our limit of Vermillion Snapper in 1st 3 hours then it was on to Jacks, Blues and Bonitas. What a great time. Only down side to the trip was the boat was crowded. If you did not know how to bottom fish the line tangles were constant. I will be back! Thanks Voyager Fishing Charters for a great fishing trip.

First chance to get back to sea fishing in a long time and the operation was amazing. Although we only caught one fish (our skill?) the ride out was like a tour in itself. The business is run by ‘old school’ style ethics, you get much more than you pay for. The crew worked the butts off and we tipped.
